Juice Lab Digest gut health shot review
Here we will give a hands-on, taste-tested review of the Juice Lab Digest gut health super shot. We’ll look into the benefits, ingredients, nutrition and flavour of this popular gut shot.
This 60ml gut shot is available widely in Australia, including in Coles and Woolworths.
Ingredients of Juice Lab Digest gut shot
This gut shot has quite a few ingredients with the main one being cloudy pear juice.
In terms of gut friendly ingredients it includes:
Celery puree
Apple fibre
Apple cider vinegar
Acacia fibre
Wheatgrass (leaf) powder
There’s nothing nasty or concerning in there, except that it does contain 7.8% sugar from the juices used.
Benefits of Juice Lab Digest gut shot
This gut shot comes with various health benefits, especially for digestion.
Fibre
The main health benefits of this gut shot are associated with its high fibre content. It has 1.4 grams of fibre per shot which is impressive.
The fibre comes from various ingredients including the:
Celery puree
Apple fibre
Acacia fibre
Wheatgrass (leaf) powder
These prebiotic fibres will feed the good bacteria in your gut and help them multiply to create a healthy microbiome.

Vitamins and minerals
Various ingredients contain vitamins and minerals.
Pear juice is high in vitamin C and potassium
Celery is rich in vitamin K and potassium
Wheatgrass includes many vitamins and minerals
Wheatgrass powder
I don’t want to use the ‘S’ word - but wheatgrass really is a ‘superfood’.
In terms of vitamins and minerals, it contains:
iron
calcium
magnesium
vitamins A, C, E, K, and B complex
It also contains:
enzymes
17 amino acids
proteins
Wheatgrass can help with inflammation, immunity, energy levels, digestion and more.

Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar can help with blood sugar control, weight loss, heart health and more.

Probiotics (lack of)
Unfortunately this gut shot doesn’t include probiotics (ie live beneficial bacteria) along with the prebiotic fibre.
Caveat: the apple cider vinegar may contain small amounts of probiotics (which are mostly lactic acid bacteria), but vinegar is comprised predominantly of acetic acid bacteria.
Appearance
As you can see above, the shot has a murky pond aesthetic. But most healthy drinks look gross right??
Flavour
The aroma is mostly pear with a hint of leafy greens.
The taste is similar with a strong pear showing, along with a slight earthy vegetal note and a decent sourness from the vinegar.
Overall the taste is fine and not offensive in any way.
Cost of Juice Lab Digest
The shot sells for $3.50 in Coles and Woolworths - which I think is reasonable without being superb value.
Summary
4.25 stars out of 5.
A shot which will give your gut a healthy kick of fibre, vitamins and minerals - however it will not give it (much, if any) probiotics also.
Pros
lots of fibre from various ingredients
good source of vitamins and minerals
contains apple cider vinegar
no nasty ingredients
Cons
no (or very low levels of) probiotics
not super cheap
