Nudie Juice Shot Antioxidant review
Here we will give a hands-on, taste-tested review of the Nudie Juice Shot Antioxidant. We’ll look into the benefits, ingredients, nutrition and flavour of this unique gut shot.
This 60ml gut shot is available in Australia in Woolworths stores.
Ingredients of Nudie Juice Shot Antioxidant
This gut shot is very natural with clean ingredients.
It has 48% apple juice, 20% blueberry puree, 14% blackberry puree, 12% raspberry puree, 6% orange juice, probiotics, cayenne pepper and vitamin C.
The various juices are also not from concentrates. And there is no added sugar, flavours, colours or preservatives.
So you can’t fault it on anything in terms of ingredients - a great start!
Benefits of Nudie Juice Shot Antioxidant
This gut shot comes with various health benefits, especially in terms of fibre and probiotics.
Fibre
All of the juices included will give your gut a good dose of prebiotic fibre.
Raspberries and blackberries are especially high in fibre - with both having over 5g of fibre per 100g.
These prebiotic fibres will feed the good bacteria in your gut and help them multiply to create a healthy microbiome.

Probiotics
This gut shot also includes probiotics (ie live beneficial bacteria) for further gut health benefits.
It includes the strain Bacillus coagulans - which is common in commercial kombuchas.
In terms of the amount of this bacteria, there are 200 million cultures per 60ml shot.

Vitamins and minerals
The various juices contain a wide array of vitamins and minerals:
Vitamin C (from orange, raspberry and blackberry): Boosts the immune system and is an antioxidant
Vitamin A (from blueberry and blackberry): Supports eye health and immune function
Vitamin K (from blackberry and blueberry): Essential for blood clotting and bone health
Folate (Vitamin B9) (from orange juice): Helps in DNA synthesis and red blood cell production
Potassium (from apple, orange and berry purees): Regulates blood pressure and supports heart and muscle function
Manganese (from blueberry, raspberry and blackberry): Supports bone health and metabolism
Antioxidants (especially anthocyanins in blueberry, blackberry and raspberry): Protect cells from damage and reduce inflammation
Cayenne pepper
Apart from including various vitamins (C, A, B6, K), cayenne pepper:
stimulates digestion: Cayenne pepper can increase the production of digestive enzymes
boosts metabolism: The compound capsaicin in cayenne pepper stimulates metabolism and may help with weight management
improves circulation: It promotes healthy blood flow
reduces inflammation: Capsaicin has anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe inflammation in the gut
Appearance
It is a very deep red, purple colour with lots of pulp/bits in it.
Texture
All the bits in it are the fibre! So it has quite a thick mouthfeel.
Flavour
The aroma is mostly apple and pear-like, with a generic red fruit background.
The taste is surprising. It starts with a lovely rich forest red fruit sweetness and then suddenly the heat of the cayenne pepper hits! I was not expecting it and it was quite strong. By the end of the shot (as I was sipping it for this review) I was noticing it less, however the heat definitely remained and lingered a while.
Overall the fruit juices taste great, but the heat of the cayenne pepper may not be for everyone. Although it does seem to energise you!
Cost of Nudie Juice Shot Antioxidant
The shot sells for $3.60 in Woolworths. Given the array of gut health benefits it includes, I think that price is reasonable.
Summary
4.75 stars out of 5.
A enlivening gut shot with plenty of health benefits - great as long as you can handle the heat!
